Fung Friday

Another Friday afternoon. I sit and sip my plastic cup of Night Train, and down another HoHo, and contemplate the singularity that is the Oompa Prompa we call Fung. Only Fung and DJ Bello may appear on this site without hot chick as counterbalance. Because they are too hilarious not to. Fung is both Shakesperean and Biblical. By which I mean his iconographic legend is a grand tragedy buried within a narrative we can only glimpse in episodic parable. But somewhere out there, there are the Dou Comments are off for this post

Today I teach. Tomorrow I head for vacation, and shopping. And, I might be under your Christmas tree. In a sense.

Singapore, you rock. Specifically, students at Laine's, you rock. Thanks for taking my classes yesterday and for lovin' on them. You really make a girl feel good. I forgot to take photos. Well, not really. Sharon (one of the store owners) was going around with her camera so I decided to take it easy and let someone else do the photo taking. As soon as she emails them to me I will share with you. It was a great day of teaching yesterday. A full day today to go as well. Then Jit and I are off t Comments are off for this post

Why Venice is unique during Christmas

by Sarah Dudleymore Christmas in Venice has something very special and unique, different from any other city in the world. You won’t find massive amounts of decoration pieces in windows on houses, instead you will see magnificent places that normally you won’t see at home. Once in awhile, you will see a brightly painted red boat/gondola carrying Santa down the canal lit up with many magical lights. Christmas trees tend to be small and skinny. This is true due to the fact that they are usu Comments are off for this post

The Office Episode - Frame Toby (Toby Returns)

The Office is probably my favorite show on television right now. I’ve been watching since the very first episode and think Steve Carell is a genius. Since I have had a writers block for some time now, I figure why not post another great Office episode. This is the one that aired last night, where Toby comes back from his vacation. The opening scene is definitely my favorite part of the episode. Check it out: Comments are off for this post

New York Magazine Aruba Event

November 21st: Your girl is wayyy overdue for a vacation. I want some paid days off in the beaming sun, grainy sand falling through my fingers, fruity frozen beverage sliding down my throat and a fresh island breeze blowing my hair in every direction imaginable. Well, last night, I lived out part of my fantasy in Aruba. Ok, you caught me. I was on Canal and West Broadway aka The Canal Room at New York Magazine’s Aruba Ariba event. So, evidently, Lewis Black is the new spokesman for Aruba Tou Comments are off for this post

Peanut Brittle

Arwen Mosher: As easy as it is delicious! - Yesterday I made peanut brittle for the first time ever. I’d always thought of peanut brittle as something you buy in bags at tourist-y little fudge and candy shops. It’s always overpriced but worth it since it tastes so good. (I don’t have much of a taste for candy in general, and really don’t enjoy fudge, but the salty-sweet crunch of brittle is addictive to me.) I’d buy some and enjoy it a couple of times a year, usually when we were on vacation. Comments are off for this post

How to Find Affordable Vacation Rentals Online

If you’re planning on visiting a vacation destination in the next few months, there are a number of great deals available that you won’t find by booking through a travel agent or looking for packages online. The number of family vacations are falling through the floor due to our current economic circumstances and the traditional decline in travel during the winter months, so individuals who own vacation rentals are significantly reducing their prices in hopes of getting additional bookings, but Comments are off for this post
